Question 40

1. What is the purpose of life? Why are we here?

2. Why - when given an entire parking lot of lovely shiny cars from which to choose - do birds always choose to poop on my car?

3. Tastes great or less filling?

--------------

The lyrics below deeply affected me when I first heard them years ago. Today they seem a bit dark, but I still can see why they affected me as they did.

"Doesn't mean that much to me to mean that much to you." - Neil Young - Old Man

"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a sun in somebody else's sky, but why can't it be, why can't it be mine" - Pearl Jam - Black

Do any of you recall lyrics that affected you upon first hearing and have stuck with you over the years?

1. Eat, drink and be merry - which usually means procreation and survival of the species. Given that I think it's "light-out" at the end of the ride, enjoy it while you can.
2. Because they LOVE you.
3. Tastes great. If it doesn't, you don't even have to worry about it being less filling!

Lyrics - "Shady Lady" - by Cowboy Junkies - "the love of my life is a shady lady, bringing me up while tearing me down." I used to sing that over and over again after I broke up with the Evil One.

I also love the lyrics to "If I had $1,000,000" by BNL - just to show the idiocy that people have when they fall into money.

1. life has a purpose? and i hold out a slim hope that i am not here....

2. approach this scientifically, have you examined the other cars and seen if they've been splatted on? they haven't? then it must be alphabetical order!

3. i don't drink much (i.e i don't get to drink much) so i'll go with great taste.

1) To enjoy the ride, and help others to do likewise.
2) They don't always, it's just so damned noticable when they do. I solve the problem by never washing the car.
3) Neither are worth drinking. Either drink real beer or have a diet soda.
"I've seen fire, and I've seen rain,
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end..."
Definitely music to help move your journey from a broken heart to slashed wrists...

1. The purpose of life is to live. Keep it simple

2. To teach you a lesson about appearances. Even with bird poop on it, it still is your lovely shiny car.

3. Jamester is right drink real beer, so tastes great as long as it refers to real beer.

When I was in fifth grade one of the girls in class got up and sang que sera sera. I think that covers it. Although Fire and Rain has always been a great party tune.

1) 42
1b) To be productive and forward (better) the human race

2) Better your car than mine. Oddly enough I haven't had much problem with the birds since moving to CA. I'm sure all the birds are much too snobbish to use my corolla they hold out for the Mercedes, Lexus and BMWs

3) Taste great!

4) Pearl Jam- Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town

I changed by not changing at all.
Small town predicts my fate.
Perhaps that's what no one wants to see.
I just want to scream, "Hello."
My god its been so long. Never dreamed you'd return.
But now here you are and here I am.
Hearts and thoughts they fade away.

That is part of the song anyhow. I had just left home for college when I heard this song. The small town part and things fading away I guess it all got to me.

1. Ah, at last a question I can answer:

Who am i?
Why am I here?
Forget the questions someone get me another beer

What’s the meaning of life?
What’s the meaning of it all?
You gotta learn to dance
Before you learn to crawl

2. Only because my car is parked somewhere else.

3. Tastes great, obviously.

Lyics?

If you hear the song we sing
You will understand.
You hold the key to love and fear
In your trembling hand.
Just one key unlocks them both
It's there at your command
C'mon people now
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try to love one another right now

1. The purpose of life is what you decide it should be. Laugh until you cry at least once a day. If you see someone that seems down, try to make them smile. If you see a great sunset, stop a second to enjoy it. Just before you get out of bed in the morning, stretch until your toes peek out from under the blankets.

We're here because we each have a task. It's up to each one of us to figure that out. Mine is to discover the incandesant light bulb. Luckily for me, someone got that already, so I have a free ride on this one.

2. They're just trying to get your attention, Punky. What you don't realize is that it's only the male birds doing that and that's one of their little known mating rituals.

3. Tastes Filling.

Difficult question. Music has always affected me intensely and emotionally. There's been many songs that have hit me when I've heard them at a high or low point in my life, but as for one that's stuck with me through the years, that would have to be "Grand Illusion" by Clapton.

It was just a, nothing but a grand illusion.
Heart was quicker than the eye.
Nothing but a grand illusion,
Legend in my own mind.

Lyrics are here.

wsbvraak - Excuse me.

1. A life of purpose is one that has left its world in better shape than when it entered.

2. It doesn't have anything to do with that bullseye I painted on it, does it?

3. I'm a sucker for delicious things.

bonus: I usually listen to the music more than the words of songs, but Deep Inside of You by Third Eye Blind stuck out because of things happening in my life at the time.

Also, I've mentioned this before, but I really like Battle of Someone by Blues Traveler.

1) I would so love to know. If anyone has the answer, I'll be your best friend for life.

2) Because they know you'll appreciate the effort that went into their hard work and careful aim.

3) Tastes great. Moved to this itty bitty town from the land of microbrews. Yay Portland, OR!!!

"Did you exchange a walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?" (Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd)
One of the reasons I left a dead-end job in tv that was making me miserable to become an actor.

1. Life is a playground. A playground upon which we play, learn, experience and grow. My purpose in life is to be happy, to love and be loved.
1b. Because we still have things to learn and experience and there are people we have yet to meet and love and be loved by, and there is more to teach and learn before the journey ends and the next one begins.

2. Perhaps it is a sign of affection?

3. Tastes great.

"Somebody" by Depeche Mode was a favorite of mine in High School.

My high school yearbook quote was by Pink Floyd from "Breathe":

"For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be."

2. Karma. My, what you must have done in a previous life. Must have been pretty awful.

3. Tastes great.

Lots of JT stuff

"...like a note in a bottle with nothing to say" is a favorite.

also

"Well I gathered up my sorrows, and I sold them all for gold. Then I gathered up the gold and I threw it all away. It all went for a good time and a song...come on. The laughter was like music, it did float my soul along...for awhile."
