From Boo:

If you had to live inside or could pass into for a visit a painting, a movie, and a television show, which painting, movie and television show would you choose? (Hint: think the movie Pleasantville).

Not from Boo:

When your alarm goes off, do you wake up with little fuss or do you hit the snooze bar to prolong the agony? If so ... how many times do you hit snooze before you finally get your ass out of bed?

Peanut M&Ms or Plain?

1. (a) Sur la Grande Jatte

(b) The Truman Show

(c) The Brady Bunch

2. I hit the snooze 2 or 3 times. I am NOT a morning person.

3. Plain or Peanut? That's one of life's toughest questions.

Painting, The Last Supper would be cool.
Movie Where's Poppa
TV Show Hogan's Hero's

I like the morning. The peace and quiet makes a nice change from the rest of the day.

Peanut, it really is the only choice.

Painting: Manet's Dejeuner sur l'herbe.

Movie: Two for the Road

TV Show: Cheers

Alarm? What's an alarm?

No seriously, in the days we did use an alarm I tended to wake up 1-5 minutes before it went off and rarely had a problem waking up. In fact, now that we can sleep as late as we want to I generally get up long before the alarm would have gone off.

Peanut or plain? Either.

1. Mona Lisa. I'd ask her what she was really thinking about.

2. Grease. I would have loved to have been a teenager in the '50s and I'd get a total kick out of Rizzo. Plus, I'd have made an excellent Pink Lady.

3. Charlie's Angels. My second choice is Little House on the Prairie.

4. I hit snooze from 7 AM until a little after 8 AM. I am *so* not a morning person.

5. Peanut. But plain are really good by the handful :)

I always vote before reading the other posts, so:

Kaf, my second choice was one of Monet's gardens and my third was a Van Gogh but I couldn't decide which.

And I almost picked Casablanca too!

Kingw: good choice. My brother-in-law Buddy was in Where's Poppa, as well as Putney Swope and Hi, Mom and The Panic in Needle Park. (Of course this was long before he met my sister.)

And don't hate me because I'm a morning person.

:)

Yea! I get to answer my own question. So . . .

1(a) The Pont des Arts by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The original is hanging in the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, CA, but I first discovered a print of it in an employer's conference room. Every time I was supposed to be working in that room, I would get lost in the painting.

http://www.nortonsimon.org/collections/highlights.asp?period=19H&resultnum=33&page=3&tswidth=270&tsheight=164&zoom=true&id=F%2E1968%2E13%2EP

1(b) I'd probably take my chances in Jurassic Park . . . or maybe Titanic.

1(c) A&E's version of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.

2) The radio alarm goes off first and NPR comes on. about 30 - 45 minutes later, the buzzer goes off. I always turn it off directly, because the snooze button has such a short duration. I don't, howeve, immediately get up which sometimes leads to me being late.

3) Peanuts, but it's a very close call.

Painting - the dogs playing poker. I'd take all their stupid dog money! Ha!

TV Show - Bosom Buddies. Just seems like it would be fun.

Movie - Strange Brew.

2. I get up pretty quickly, but as a compromise, I leave my ass in bed all day.

3. Peanut, unless I'm mixing them with popcorn (if you haven't tried that, you haven't lived).

Jeff- funny story about Where's Poppa. IT was at a Drive In. My mom and her sister took some of the kids to see the second movie really. So we saw Where's Poppa, the second movie was Deliverance. I believe I was 13. My mom and aunt were mortified that they took the kids. Both movies left an impression. But I thought Where's Poppa was one to watch more than once.

If I could live in a song, it would be Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata

Painting - M.C. Escher's "Relativity" - I love the concept that things are what you make of them.

Movie - "Love Actually" - love is everywhere...

TV Show - "The Simpsons" - you could get away with almost anything for 1/2 hour and next time, everything is back to normal...

Alarm - I'm kinda like Jeff - I'll wake up a minute or two before the alarm goes off, and then I usually jump right out of bed. As long as I get the tea going, I'm more of a morning person than night.

This wasn't always true - I used to hit a snooze bar dozens of times back in grad school or my previous career...

Plain M&Ms - peanut ones are icky!
*ducks the sockfull o'nickels that people will chuck at him*

Oh, and if I could live in a song - Bach's "Air on a G String." Great title, but it's such a wonderful tune.

1a- I don't know the name of the painting, but it is in the impressionist style I think and it shows a ton of young girls with flowers everywhere celebrating May day or spring. It is at the Getty, but I couldn't find a picture to link to. Maybe my art history fiancee can figure out the name. That or I would pick Van Goh Iris
1b-Movie *61 I'd love to run around with all those hot baseball players (yeah I know they aren't the real Yankees, but still it would be fun)
1c - Quantum Leap!!!
1d - Moonlight Sonata -Mozart

2-I'm not a morning person, but I usually don't hit a snooze button. I just lay there for a few minutes wondering why I was up so late the night before. I'm a lot less grumpy after standing in the shower for a bit.

3- Plain. and Cbol I agree totally on the popcorn and M&M thing.

Mad - Mozart also had a Moonlight Sonata?

Probably a Monet painting.
Movie: The Sandlot. Oh, to be 8 and play baseball with your buddies forever. ( 2nd choice: While You Were Sleeping, if I get the girl. 3rd choice: The Boy Who Could Fly, again , if I could get the girl (Lucy Deakins was perfect... I guess I already live too much of my life in movies, now that I think of it...)
TV: Could I be Dick Cavett on his first interview show?
I get up pretty well.
Peanut.
Song: Dire Straits "Romeo and Juliet". Best guitarist ever.

Okay, painting I was going to say Mona Lisa, pretty much same reason as Punky, so instead I'll say The Marriage at Cana by Paolo Veronese.

Movie would be the first Willy Wonka......man, I wanna ride that elevator! And I'd like to party with the Ompa Lumpas.

TV show....hmmmmm....maybe South Park...I could be Chef. I do a great Issac Hayes impersonation.

Song would definitely be Snakecharmer by Ottomar Liebert.

Not a morning person, never really was, but now that I've worked afternoons for 4 years, I'm really not a morning person. But like when I set the alarm to get up to go to the dentist this am, I hit the snooze about a bajillion times and was nearly late.

Plain or peanuts, depending on my mood and if I've eaten chocolate yet this year. I really only eat sweets maybe once every 2 months or so.

ihrmmzt - i hurt my zit

Good call punky - I had the right composer, but I think I wrote moonlight sonoda from reading above. What I meant was Eine kleine nacht muzik (I know I murdered the german, but even my english spelling sucks so what did you expect.)

Painting: one of Gaugain's Polynesian works

Movie: A River Runs Through It.
Not so much cause I like the movie, but I think it would have been neat to live in turn-of-the-century Montana.

TV show: That's another tough one. Because Seinfeld is hilarious, but I couldn't be friends with those people. So I'll pick The Simpsons.

I wake up with lots of fuss. I hit the snooze button for at least a half hour, but usually more like an hour. I hate mornings. I haven't counted how many times you can hit the snooze in an hour, but I think its' about every 10 minutes, so you do the math.
